My 10 favorite literature classics

Oooo...I loved to read as a kid. How about you?

Remembering my favorite books I read as a kid conjures up visions of attics and warm quilts, reading during thunderstorms or imagined sword fights with scary creatures we all knew lurked deep within the woods. Even now a rainy day will make me smile and think of my favorites.

How many of these did you read?

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle

Little Women by Louisa May Alcott

The Hobbit by J. R. R. Tolkein

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas

Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

Winnie the Pooh by A. A. Milne

The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis (I know I'm cheating - 7 books)

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

A book, too, can be a star, a living fire to lighten the darkness, leading out into the expanding universe.” Madeleine L'Engle

There are so many more. More than I listed above. More to read. More to write. Most especially, there is more to live. All of us have dreams yet unfulfilled. Ideas not fully formed. Each day a new opportunity is born, a new blank page appears. Dawn arises with promise.

Inspiration

When I see a stack of books I get inspired, especially if it's sitting beside a fresh cup of tea or coffee. How fun! There's more to discover, more to do.

What were some of your favorite books?
